Besides the color and branding or lack thereof, nothing. 8800/8820/8830 housings are interchangeable.

thats mean what ever case for 8800 can fit in to 8830 with out any size hardware problem! if so whey bb chage the name of three bb cellphones? whey they don't release it under one name but for different services like the wan with verizon and ATT.

thanks for your reply.

out of curiosity, now when ever bb 9000 coming out for verizon I beleive they will disable everything (hardware) untill we pay for each one of them..

Yup..

They cant remove the hardware, they just write coding into it, to disable it from being used freely...

Its all a give and take. You get good coverage, and in exchange they nickel and dime you....

p.s. the only difference between the housings is, the 3gcdma by qualcomm, on the 8830...

Ok, let's stop this one right in it's tracks. The only feature you must pay extra for is GPS. Everything else works out of the box. Get over the Verizon disabling, crippling of features, it's old.

sorry for my Q. all I want to know is that it does not make any different if I have the 8830 or 9000 because I get what I have with my service ( calling, resaving a call) . thats all!

we call it even.

PS: thanks justajason for the info.

Really! I agree. It's amazing how often Verizon gets the shaft for things like this while other carriers won't even provide what seems like basic services such as picture messaging and not many raise much of a hue and cry. I think there has been way too much Verizon bashing going on everywhere. Sorry to go off-topic.

Cheers!

???? you don't get picture messaging from Verizon if you have an 8830, so join in slapping VZW around a little bit, its fun.

This I can agree with. It is fun to slap them around a bit. I can reasonably understand their weird policy where non-cameraphones are not entitled to getting the MMS package. I don't like it, but at least I have the option of going to another Blackberry on Verizon that does. Not so with Sprint since MMS is not available on their Blackberries (camera or not). I do slap Verizon around every so often but since I'm a paying customer of theirs, I'm entitled to.

Seriously though, I've tried other carriers and to me, it really is all about their network. Sorry for sounding like a shill.

Cheers!
