Hey guys, I'm a first time blackberry user, and do i love my blackberry 7290. I just have some questions, but right now i just need one answered. I'm looking to use MSN Messanger on my blackberry and i see that there are several software options available out there. I have tried a few but they all say "Invalid Connection String: could not open tunnel-", along those lines. How do I get around this problem? I have Cingular as my service provider and im on a Unlimited Data Plan as well as 2500 text MEdia plan. And also, will this add anything extra to my bill? Thanks a lot in advance for your help... if there is anything else you need to know .. just let me know heh...
Thank You
-Nick

I'm kind of new at this too, but I believe the answer to your question is in a thread called: "How to Configure Full Internet Access On BlackBerry"
I had a similar problem with a third party program that needed to access the internet in order to translate English into Spanish. I own a BlackBerry 7100t from T-Mobile...
This is what I did. Go to: Settings, Options, TCP. Under TCP I entered the string "wap.voicestream.com" right in front for "APN". My software works now.
But but I'm no expert. Try the thread above.

Nick,
EDIT: I just noticed that you were on Cingular. Nevermind BUT you can still use Blackberry Messenger.
Well, if you are using a BB 7290 on the ATT network, you will not be able to use a third party chat application. I spent many hours trying to get it set up on mine without any luck. If you are on ATT, you must be on a BES in order for this to work. There is another option called Blackberry Messenger. That is currently what I use. You can get this at http://www.blackberry.com/messenger
I hope this helps.
the bb messenger is only for use between bb pin users so not for MSN or Yahoo

Oh yeah, also does blackberry messanger bring on any additional costs even if i have unlimited data?
Thanks guys..

This won't work for you because Cingular is your carrier.

yup you need to configure your settings as stated in the FAQ... http://blackberryforums.com/showthread.php?t=3851
You should find some useful information in there to get it working... I got mine working but I have Cingular

Go to your BWC site and under profiles and resend yourself the service books.
