Please help me out with some input between the Pearl 8130 and the 8830 World Edition for work (These are my only two choices). I know they are completely different in size but functionality wise, which is the better choice.

I used to have the 8100 w/ Cingular but dumped it since work would be covering my cell phone bill.

Thanks for the time....;-)

its a personal choice really. I couldnt go back to a full keyboard. Do you travel outside the country ? If so go with the world phone. Other wise as I stated its a personal choice.

I personally love a full qwerty keyboard. But I also know people who swear by the pearl's keyboard. Like Dawg said, It's really just a personal preference. Unless you plan on traveling outside the country frequently.

All I've known is the Pearl and wonder if the 8830's full keyboard will make me fall in love.

I dont plan on going outside the country, but even if I did wouldnt charges be through the roof?

Most of the people I know who own Pearls love it's keyboard. I personally have never had a pearl. But I am addicted to the qwerty. I can type much faster on a qwerty, but I know others who will make the same claim regarding the pearl.

I have an international calling plan on my phone so the charges always seem reasonable. But otherwise I imagine the answer to your question would be yes.

How about battery life? Im thinking the 8830 might have longer with a bigger battery....

Sorry for the n00b talk, just want to make sure Im happy with my new phone since I wont be able to take it back.

Can't attest to the battery life on the Peral since I don't own one. However, I have been satisfied with the battery life on my 8830. What do you intend on using your BB for? Obviously the more programs you run during the day the faster your battery will drain. If you use the unit primarily for email and average call use you shouldn't have a problem with either one.

I have both. Pearl uses the 4.3 OS which is not that much different to 8830 4.2. 8130 also has the camera.
However, to me the main issue is the keyboard.

I am a very heavy user so my batery lasts from six am when it wakes up and lasts till I go to bed around 10. On weekends it lasts up to two or three days. It just depends on if I am chating or surfing the net.

Is the curve any better/worse than the two i have to choose from? If its better I can work around the system to get it....

I would go to the nearest Verizon store and play with both of them. That will give you a better idea maybe.

I had full QWERTY with my Treo and switched to the Pearl. Even though it took me a few days to get the hang of it I love the Pearl keyboard. The Pearl predictive typing is better than the Treo and the phone itself is tiny compared to the Treo.

I am very happy with the smaller phone, the smaller screen and the smaller keyboard of the Pearl. You'll learn to love

If you travel to Europe, neither the Verizon Pearl nor Curve will work at all for either data or voice. With the 8830, at least, you can still make calls and obtain data service (with the appropriate plan).
