View Full Version : Where can I get a GOOD AIM client on the 8700? Part 2!

Since the original thread I found is closed (http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8700-series-discussion/27316-where-can-i-get-good-aim-client-8700-stupid-there-isn-t-one.html), looks like I have to start this new thread to ask the burning question in my mind: What do I have to do to get a GOOD AIM client on my 8700g on T-Mobile?!? :?

For Gord only KNOWS what reason, T-Mobile will NOT allow the use of RIM's official AIM client on the 8700g, even though users of the Curve ARE allowed to use it! :x

And before anyone mentions the much-vaunted Ramble IM... NO. N. O. I've been using Ramble for months, and it SUCKS! I can stay logged in for about 5 minutes, tops, before it logs me off with no warning, interrupting conversations and forcing me to log back in! I had that same problem years ago with the official AIM client on the Color Sidekick, I should NOT be having that problem on a BlackBerry in 2008!!! :x

Before I used Ramble, I d/led and tried the free trial version of Verichat, which at the time was hailed as the best. Not only did I try it once, when that version of the software didn't work, I waited for a software update, downloaded a newer version, installed it, and it STILL didn't work. It was NEVER, and I mean NEVER able to log me into my AIM account... AT ALL! I didn't have even ONE successful log-in with Verichat! So that's a no go. :-(

So, I ask you all, WHO DO I HAVE TO KILL TO GET A WORKING AIM CLIENT ON MY BB 8700G?!?!?!? :?

I would prefer responses from those that are using the 8700g on T-Mobile, because our devices seem to have limitations and quirks not present on the 8700s available on other carriers. :-(

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

P.S. I'm using OS version 4.1.0.346 and Ramble version 0.9.10.8.

Jack, when I was using my 8700g, on TMo, with OS V4.1, I used JiveTalk (I still do), but that said, because I met all your criteria to answer your question.

It just works. Look over in our Buy Sell section, a user has some extra licenses to sell at a good price.

With your needs/restrictions, there really is no other choice for you. Of course you only asked for a GOOD AIM client. JiveTalk with give you a GREAT AIM client.

Best AIM client for the blackberry, hands down. Been using it for years, not a single problem with it.

Jivetalk is a great IM tool.. I've been using for more than a year for AIM and MSN.. I've noticed most of my friends barely come on AIM or MSN anymore.. It's strictly Jivetalk, so I stopped using Jivetalk. But for the multi purpose, Jivetalk FTW!

My screen name of many years no longer works because of this aim client. Now all of my buddies appear as offline, well not all, but the majority.

I highly recommend JiveTalk as the others have; it is the best aim client hands down.

Screen names do not "break." I guess all of your friends blocked you?
