How can I get my bb to do this?
[Q: How is texting on a BlackBerry like?
A: The QWERTY keyboards can make it very convenient. You can also use a texting plan, as BlackBerry allows you to easily write huge text messages (messages up to around 1000 characters) which automatically gets split up to 6 text messages. These are actually automatically combined into one message by some other phones that automatically recombine segmented text messages (such as other BlackBerries).]

On my World Edition, I get this error message. " field is full"
I can only send 160 characters.

Thanks

Could this be a GSM versus CDMA issue...I never saw anything like this on my BlackBerries nor on my Tilt...

160 is the standard length of SMS! However some services will allow you to continue to type and it breaks the message into parts example: a 250 character text would be split into two messages. Some carriers allow this some don't. I believe vzw does not allow this

Is it because its a blackberry? I can type as much as I want on my Verizon Samsung U740.

It just means that they followed the published standard, which limits text messages to 160 characters. Samsung did not follow the standard.

Between my Fiance any myself, we have had 5 phones on Sprint, and they all stop letting you type a text message at 160 characters. It juts depends on your carrier and how they follow the rules.

I just got my Verizon 8330, try to start it as an MMS instead of an SMS. That's worked for me!

On Bell Mobility, the limit is 140 characters.
