SIM Card from 7100i to 8830?

Is it possible to use a sim card from the 7100i in an 8830 with full use of functions. Right now I can't text msg on the 7100i because it is not a function allowed and I want to know before buying the 8830 if I will need a new sim card to allow for texting on the 8830

No, you can't move the sim card from an iDen device to a GSM device. (8830 is CDMA/GSM)

You should be able to text on the 7100i unless it's blocked. I used to text on mine all the time.

But upgrading to the 8830 is a good thing anyway since it's a much nicer device.

EDIT: Just noticed you are with Telus. I was with Nextel. Could be the difference.
