The Blackberry specializes at secure wireless push e-mail. If AIM is most important to you, get a Sidekick. You may not be happy with a BB.

Wirelessly posted (7250: BlackBerry7250/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

AIM/Yahoo and others are coming soon to Blackberry. RIM is working with various IM networks to release a client by late summer/early fall. Stay tuned.

I agree with NJBB above. If youare looking fot the IM functionality you may not be happy with the BB. And If you plan to do alot of typing then the sidekick will provide the qwerty keyboard layout i believe. Happy Hunting.

I suggest the 7290 and just download the app Verichat.... it works wonders, but the only thing is I have cingular and it works very well, and am not quite sure how the connection is on T Mobile.. but if your looking for everything in one phone, get the 7290. If you're just looking for just AIM go with the sidekick 2...

i just gave my sidekick 2 to my 15yr son. The sidekick crashes alot and if u drop it the screen pops out. u can not load aftermarket software in those things either. i have a bb7230 and it is great and it doesnt crash. if u want IM get the bb7290 it has the IM software but u have to get unlimited text messaging with it. the sidekick is good if u like toys with ringtones.

i just got the 7290 a few days ago and it is great. i replaced my bb7230 with it. its browser is faster and it has IM that uses sms. the 7290 browser is ten times better than the sidekick browser. i had the sidekick 2 for about 9months and the only thing the sidekick has is ringtones.

The would say the SK is more of a "toy," while the BB is more of a "grown-up" device. I use Ramble for AIM on mine and it is free, I think there is a seperate MSN software but not free, I suggest you go with www.webmessenger.com it's a one time fee of $30 and supports AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ.

i have TMO 7290 and IM is free but it uses sms. it has AIM, ICQ, MSN, and yahoo. u have to go to TMO site and download the software into ur desktop manager. u need to have the plan with unlimited text.
