Blackberry Desktop Manager - Cannot find server

We are having an issue with a user not being able to connect his Blackberry Desktop Manager to the BES (Domino). We are able to successfully ping and tracert to the address, but desktop manager just says that it can't find the server. If you are persistant enough, it does eventually connect. Any thoughts please?
