So my wife calls me from her VZW 8703e today with an announcement:

wife: "Simpson, my boss has decided to reward everyone in the office with a new iPhone."

simpson: "OK...did he give you a choice? 'Cause I just busted my butt getting Unite to work right with our Blackberries."

wife: "It is a FREE @<hidden>#$% iPhone! With service paid for! What is your PROBLEM?"

simpson: "Has he heard about the Bold? According to sources it is coming out this summer or on the occasion of Abe Vigoda's passing. Seriously, I read that on BBF."

wife: [click]

soooo...I guess we will be changing service from Verizon to AT&T soon.

My plan is to get a gently used Curve to use until the Bold comes out.

iPhone...jeeez! Doesn't her boss know we are a Blackberry family!

Ouch! Sorry bud. That hurts.

If my wife was given a free iphone she would try and pull the same thing. Sounds like a lose lose situation.

Time to kick her to the curb, Simpson. She's not good enough for ya . . . and having to switch to AT&T just adds insult to injury

;-)

Make an anonymous call to the boss and let him know his employees are loading up their company-issued iPhones with stolen music and adult videos. (For some reason, no one knows that Blackberries do audio or video)

After all, the iPhone is an entertainment device. A toy, if you will.

I feel your pain, Simpson. The good news is you can feel even more happy with your BB when your wife is struggling with typing, etc, etc! :)

and / or her boss realizes they have to change email service providers to get their email to work since they're currently on Exchange... ;)

iPhone as a "reward"? That's the same as getting written-up. I would have to ask my boss what I did wrong.

Convince her that when she slides stuff around on the screen, it falls off the edges.

LOL...he is a Huge Apple guy. Jobs is a god, etc...we have had a few conversations about the Blackberry/iPhone thing.

My wife is excited...I guess I am too...her company is going to pick up my line too, so that will, in effect pu $200+ back into the TeamSimpson budget each month.

My beer budget rejoiceth.

Plus, he hasn't said that I would have to carry the toy phone, too!

I think I'd rather the Jelly-of-the-month club. That's the gift that keeps on giving.

She's excited now, but, as I've learned, the novelty will wear off sooner or later and she'll want her BB back. I still use my iPhone on weekends (particularly those I don't care to be flooded with e-mail) but I am reluctant to use it on weekdays as it just doesn't do e-mail well. Oh, hell, nothing I've had does e-mail as well as my beloved Curve (or any other BlackBerry devices) as far as reliable, stable delivery. I don't even mind that my Curve doesn't do HTML e-mail out of the box.

It's strange, though, as annoyed as I've recently become with my iPhone I can not bring myself to part with it. Even though most of the time it sits on my charging dock while I take my Curve everywhere.

But, who knows? Maybe she'll think it's the bomb.

Besides, Monday is magic day and all iPhones will work with Exchange Servers magically. Right? ;-)

I guess it could be worse. He could have offered to get her a Tilt. Or even worse. A Centro. Heh.
