I bought a world phone along with a Travelsim card last year for trips to Europe. This year I have a BB 8830 and wanted to put the card in it.
I’ve already unlocked the phone (with the help of VZN)
When i put the card in and restarted the phone, the phone recognized the card but worked as my regular # and service.
I called the company that i got the card from and he told me that it only works on a GSM phone, Isn't an 8830 a GSM?

Do I have to change some settings?

Shouldn't it automataly switch over to the Sim card phone numer?

What am I doing wrong? Please help

If this card is really not good for this phone, can someone recommend one that is (I would rather a multi country)

Thanks so much

It will only switch to the SIM card when you are outside of North America.
Where are you right now?

The 8830 is CDMA AND GSM. But it will only switch to GSM outside of North America.

Nope. The GSM radio frequencies in the 8830 do not work in North America.
