Hi, I have a 7100v which has been gathering dust because I use O2 and its locked to - yes, you guessed it - Vodafone :(

I want to unlock it but I dont have any money to blow on it, does anyone know if I can flash it as a normal unbranded 7100 OS and unlock it for free? Will reflashing unlock?

Thanks in advance! :bb:

You can't unlock it by changing the OS. The only ones who can unlock it are Vodafone or a commercial unlocker.

Flashing cannot lock or unlock a BlackBerry.

Thanks for the reply!

The BlackBerry is quite old and my mum used to own it (the firm she works for provided it to her and she upgraded so the 7100v got passed to me), do you think Vodafone will charge to unlock it? If so then how much?

Thanks in advance! :bb:

Yes, the 7100 series is on the old side..

You can always call and ask them... I have no idea; sorry.

OK, thanks for the swift reply there! (Even though it says you are offline, hmnmm...)

Yeah, I will contact their customer service.

"Most" carriers require an account in good standing to provide the unlock code for free. That's the way it is in the U.S. anyway. Maybe ask a friend with a Voda account to request the unlock code. He'll need your PIN and IMEI numbers.

Do you think I can go to a stall in a market that does mobile unlocking and have them do it for me?

Oh yeah, also is there any way I can flash it with the firmware from another BlackBerry like a Pearl to get new features? I know it can be done with Sony Ericssons...
