Open pdf after downloading attachment

I am running 4.5.0.52 on an 8820

I have a pdf attached to an email that I am trying to view. I am able to save it, and view it by using the messages app. However after saving it, I assumed I could delete the original email. After deleting I went to Media so I could access files, and I attempted to open. It then give me an "Unable to open file type"

Is there anyway to open pdf's after saving them? or you can only do it by going through the original message?

also, i know there are 3rd party programs out there, but I was wondering if the stuff included with 4.5 could do this
