A UK site, p**EDIT**s.com, is selling the Bold for $399 plus $30 for FedEx shipping. Can this be legit??

Well-- I have emailed them to see...I did get an e-mail from them after my inquiry, but that doesn't prove their legit.

No, but it us a start. I also notice they are a yahoo commerce site, which neither makes the legit. But just helps.

Just watch out for the keyboards.

Product description claims it is a QWERTY keyboard.

And, they say it is unlocked

Just watch out for the keyboards.

Why?

In case it were the TMo Germany release with the QWERTZ keyboard, I believe was John's reference. Of course, that would not bother you, right?

I got it :-) Totally forgot this difference. And yes, it wouldn't bother me ;-) My first 7100, 8100 and 8700 had all a QWERTY keyboard and it wasn't a problem to use them. Luckily only the Z and Y keyboards are exchanged, that is the only problem. On a PC keyboard it would be a real pain, cause much more keys are on different places...

There is no way that this is legitimate.

If you look up the Curve on their website it says the same thing: BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER EMAIL US FOR FULL INFORMATION (sales@<hidden>)

The Bold will be cheaper in the U.S. than anywhere in Europe once it hits the shelves, you can quote me on that...

I sent them an email too just for the hell of it though :-P

I'm not sure how many of you got a response after "inquiring", but I received mine and feel I should share...

Here is the response in a nutshell:
"I will like you to send us your full shipping address including your contact phone number.
Mode of payment for is Western Union Money Transfer..
Shipping will be made 2 hours after confirmation of your payment.."

I have uploaded the message to my server if you would like to read the full transcript: link removed, please PM me if you wish to view content

Please help spread the word!

Poor grammar skills ("I will like you") give it away, too!

If it is too good to be true . . . . . . .

True, do the same people also author Nigerian scam emails?

Thanks for checking this out. By no means was I going to order a Bold from them (it looked a bit fishy from the start), but hopefully the investigation others have done will prevent some from being scammed.

Likely so.

I do not know if I am just lucky or what but I have been picked to receive millions of dollars by SO MANY if I will only send them my banking info so they can deposit it! <vbg>

So far I have found at least 6-8 sites that offer the BB 9000 for around $400 and most of them are shipping NOW. I would say that until you see the site (ATT) that has a contract with BB to market the device first that all others are some type of scam. As it has been reported in this forum they are either Pre-released or European version. I have pre-order one of these gems from cellhut.com but now have noticed that the shipping date has been removed from the site, original it was August 8th. Several others sites I have reviewed have change the expected arrival dates also. Earlies I have found is August 15th but that could also change. I have emailed cellhut but they have not responded to any of the 3 emails about the order. My feeling is that if the price is less than $600 something must be wrong or misleading.
