No signal abroad!

Ok, I went to Beijing and brought my Curve along with me for the first time.
I was surprised to find out that there were no service there. There was SOS all the time. I thought the phone had Roaming?

China, I thought, maybe that's not compatible.

I then went to Paris, and the same thing happened, no service, and SOS all over. Surely, Europe has Orange support!

Before I call Orange's hotline, I just wanted to ask you guys. Is it normal? Is it something I missed in the phone's settings, or is it Orange UK not supporting abroad service?

No, it's not normal.
Either Orange did not enable international roaming, or the device is to lock on to Orange and not check other carriers.

Go into Options / Mobile Network

What is "Network Selection Mode" set to? It should be on Automatic

Yup, I've checked that on my phone both times whilst abroad, they're on Automatic.

I guess it's down the ever lasting Indian call centre route. Cheers.

Has anyone bought an Orange device in the UK, and have it work abroad? Would help to know whether it's just me.
