Pearl restarting on own multiple times a day

My Pearl has been shutting down and restarting on its own multiple times a day. It has happened when I am on the phone and also when I am doing nothing at all. When it does, the red light will come on and stay on, and occasionally the camera light will come on super bright for a while. It takes a long time to restart sometimes, so I find myself pulling the battery a million times a day. I have talked to BB support for TMobile and they are no help and recommended I downgrade to 4.2, but I thought that a newer version software is usually better!

I have wiped my handheld and then restored it, and the problem is still happening. It also does not seem to be a battery issue. I am using v4.5.0.52 and have service through T-Mobile. I am hoping it is not a hardware issue. Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it? Any help please??

Your OS is not the most recently released version for your device. Wiping it and restoring it will not eliminate the possibility of an OS problem, as the same OS will remain. You might try to upgrade that. That would be my first guess.

Reformat your memory card too if using one.

I do not have a memory card...would it be a good idea to get one? You'll have to excuse me, I 'm technologically challenged. Also starting today, the red light has been staying on mostly all the time, not blinking but constant red. I just finished installing the new software so hopefully that will help my restart problem, but the red light is still there.

Ok, the new software did not work. It has already shut off and restarted on its own again. Any advice?

Im having the same problem with my 8800. the red light keeps coming on and if i do as much as put it on the side itl turn off and restart. :/
