Return receipt from email???

I use my BB to email ALL THE TIME. A few friends recently told me that "sometimes" they get a request from "the sender" for a return receipt... is there a function that I need to turn off to stop this..... why doesn't this request happen for each email i send, only sometimes?

It usually sets itself to yes when adding a new email to the device, just as the silly signature "sent from my BlackBerry" does.

email>options>email settings: confirm delivery/read receipt (no)

Some folks can indicate in their own email that they do not wish to process delivery/read receipts. That may be why it's not consistent.
