An internal email floating around Verizon Wireless hints at some “exciting news” coming on Sept 15th. According to Kevin Byrne, Verizon will tentatively launch “http://www.verizonwireless.com/storm” on September 15th, followed by the actual product launch on 11-1-08. Some more eye candy (Photoshop > Filters > Render clouds was the best they could do?) and a confirmation of the phone (finally) will be sweet, but don’t go standing in line to be the first to buy the Storm on November 1st. BG tells me you all will have to wait around one more week for that…

Just an official announcement the device exists, no dates or pricing. I was impressed at the 3.2 megapixel camera though.

Do you work for Verizon? Where did you get this info? If you were impressed by the camera, does that mean you got to play with one?

Yes, I work for Verizon. I got the information from the internal video. By impressed I mean that initial reports stated it would only have a 2.0, and it is instead being released with a 3.2. No, I have not played with one yet. Ordinarily I don't ever discuss product releases, however we have information that has been cleared to be discussed with the public.

Here are the talking points on Engadget:

Quad band connectivity - so will the Storm have more international coverage than the 8830? When I checked the VZW international site many destinations have no coverage w/8830.

Dear All,

I eagerly clicked on the link at the top of this thread only to find a page not found message.... this was last night....

NOW... it redirects to a new error message, but the url changes... like in a real redirect to... to the Verizon e-store.

Try it yourself... got to the top of the thread to get the link as I am one post shy of the "privilege" of posting a link. It used to be five posts, now it is ten... whatever, I will cope.

Thanks for the site.

With fingers crossed,
mrmartymac

That's it. I would suggest signing up for updates from Verizon. You can do this from the homepage. It's not Storm specific but I am sure that this will be a big promotion for them when they start pushing it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have been a long time VZW customer, but I have found their updates to be somewhat delayed. I appreciate the suggestion though.

Just for grins I Googled "verizon announces storm" and fond this article.

The writer says "Verizon officially announces BlackBerry 9530 Storm" but does not support the official suggestion with reference to a news release or anything. So, again, for whatever it is worth to the rest of the world... I will share it here.

Fudzilla - Verizon officially announces BlackBerry 9530 Storm (http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=9427&Itemid=70)

PS - I know nothing of this site, I am merely sharing information.

I feel your pain. I just keep going back to that page every now and then to see if anything has changed on it. As soon as I see a change, I will post that here.

Yeah, it's still down. I will keep checking back and when it comes back up I think that I will re-register in case they pulled all the information that may have been submitted for the VERY short amount of time that it was up.

I'd be very surprised if this device is launched this year. Considering the delays in the Bold, Q1 2009 seems more realistic.
