Send SMS To email address

I guess this is another newbie question I haven't been able to find an answer to... on a 4.0 7100 can I compose an SMS and specify the destination as an email address? (many phones support this feature)

what I mean is specificly specifying "compose SMS" and specifying anything in the TO field besides a phone number

I am with Tmo and I can use SMS to send to an email address. You start the message with the full email address, then a space, then your message. When asked what number to send to enter 500. This will send to an email address.

wouldnt it be better to compose an email than to compose an sms? seeing how people usually have unlimited data/email but not unlimited sms's.

Yes, it certainly is easier to compose an email on a BB. I just remember this from when I used a phone w/o PDA capabilities. I had templates setup for the email addresses that I would sent msgs to.
