Profile switching idea...

I just got the BB Curve 8330 and can't believe how much torture I went through with the Moto Q over the last 2 years. I never would have thought the Curve would be so much better and many of my frustrations were related simply to the Moto Q, not the fact that it was a Smartphone.

Anyway - here is my idea. It is my understanding that you can't have the profile change automatically when plugged in - but if you Holster it, it does change the profile because of a magnet in the holster. Could I just put a refrigerator magnet on my desk and set my phone on top of it when it's plugged in. Would that change the profile? Or is it a magic BB magnet?

Yup...any magnet will do. One would probably want to keep it away from the liquid-cooled superconductor magnets, but a regular magnet will put your baby to sleep.

if it's asleep, can it still sync to the computer and will it still ring when I have a call or e-mail?

It should sync. It will ring if you have your in-holster profile set to ring.
