Hey Guys,

This is a strange one... My blackberry all of a sudden has two address books in terms of the way the device syncronizes.

If I do a backup and then go into the Backup/Restore wizard I get the below:

http://www.whoisearth.com/images/addressbook.JPG

So the one address book that syncs, that has 13 contacts. the other has my original 280 contacts.

Strange thing is, this seems to have happened since I upgraded to the newest system software.

I'm using a blackberry Curve 8310 from rogers.
system software is v4.5.0.55 (Platform 2.7.0.68)

Look at the Address Book options and see if you have choices now to choose which to display according to an email profile you might choose... similar to the new calendar set up.

when I check on my blackberry there's only the one address book, not the two that it should show.

This is new in the 4.5 handheld OS. I found little documentation about this but I suspect the idea is to have multiple addressbook sync.

How do you merge two different address books into one?

How do you merge two different address books into one?

This is what I would love to know.

Essentially I can't sync my address book with Lotus Notes anymore, unless I go through my blackberry and physically delete and recreate every address.

All my old addresses are in the Address Book - All group and new ones are in Address Book.

Very strange indeed...

Or is there a way to transfer all the contacts from one address book to the other?

Sync both Address Books to Outlook, then re-sync all data back to your preferred Address Book.

I too have the same issue on a users phone. There is address book -all that has something like 600 contacts in it and then Address book that has just a few

The second one is the only one that will wireless sync with the BES. Also Desktop manager only sees the second small address book, not the other one.

The blackberry sees two address books. the small one that syncs then the other one is the difference between the number of contacts in the working one and the total.

for instance address book all sees 600, then address book is 200

so the blackberry has one that has 200 contacts and the other has the other 400.

Cant seem to get those 400 contacts into outlook and get the BB back to just having one working address book

need help.

If you cannot sync the second address book to Outlook, you may need to key in the lesser of the two totals again. i.e. the 13 entries may need to be re-created unless you can find a way to merge them.

To get the other address book with more entries back as the default, while in backup/restore, backup the entire device, then click advanced, and select the address book entries in the right-hand window and click clear, one at a time.

Then restore the 280 record address book from the left-hand window. This will make this address book the default. You can then re-create your 13 other entries.
