after new OS

is it normal for everything to be wiped after a new OS is installed? i installed the latest for my pearl the other night and i totally cleared out my address book.

one additional thing, in my emails its saying i have one unread message (the little icon) but i have no emails in that inbox.

Should have done an automatic backup...

so while upgrading it should've done a backup? cuz it didnt....

At the beginning of the upgrade process it asks if you want to back up all of your data. If you checked off the correct box, a file with the extension IPD will be on your hard drive. If you did not select the box to backup your data, it did not get backed up.

I always do a manual backup before an upgrade just in case.

As far as the extra message check your SMS inbox or you saved messages folder. Also try a battery pull.

A manual backup isn't a bad idea as a preventative measure even if you normally check the automatic backup option during the upgrade.
