Buddy of mine is turning in his 8830 Verizon BB and can't figure out how to export contacts.

I've had countless bb's and offered to help.

Downloaded Desktop mgr on a spare laptop...connected the device via usb...and NADA, nothing, not recognizing it?

He's stopping over shortly....and trying to resolved getting his 800 contacts off the device. Can anyone help?

Please....

Try a different USB port and make sure you're not using a hub....

Also, when they are exported, they will be exported to a file that you can open up natively on a PC. You'd need some sort of conversion program. Unless he's just going to restore them to a new device.

i've now tried connecting to both usbs on my t40 thinkpad and all three on my t61 - something is wierd.

I don't recall if NOT SHOWING UP was part of the issue or backups just failed but I think folks who installed one of the news services apps (AP?? other?? )somehow interferred with backups or syncing? Or my memory is corrupt!!!

Is the device driver installed properly in Windows Device manager?
