Quick way to access contacts from the phone screen?

Is there a quick way to access contacts from the phone menu? I see I can press menu, then select "Call from address book", but I was hoping there was a shortcut.

I tend to just press on the green phone button once and then type in the name of the contact im after. It should narrow the list for you pretty quickly before you can select the contact and then press the green phone button again.

Nevermind I figured it out - hold down the call key!

Hit your green call key,menu-options-general options-call from home screen-set as no. Your "A" key is now your short cut for address book!
