Sprint does not allow off-network devices on their network.

It is not possible AFAIK. Sprint doesn't allow any devices other than their own on their network.

How would they know?

When you change devices they will want your PIN and ESN.

if you don't believe experienced users, try it yourself and see.. you'll only be out a few hundred dollars ;-)

How would they know?

With GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile) all you have to do is swap the SIM and the service provider doesn't know/care.

With CDMA (Sprint, Verizon, Alltel), all equipment changes must be done by the provider... since Sprint would have to do the equipment change, they would know. And, as stated above, they don't allow it.

Unless you are buying the device from a third party seller, you won't get it unlocked direct from a carrier.

Why is Sprint always the last to come out with the cool phones?

They got the RAZR after it was cool to have one.

AT&T gets the iphone and the Bold

Verizon gets the Storm

Sprint Releases the Pearl & Curve months after everyone else.

If they were in the fashion industry, they'd be bankrupt

um no they aren't....

Um, yeah, they are. They're losing $Billions each quarter, averaging a million lost subscribers per quarter, and SK Telecom no longer is interested in them. Deutch Bank doesn't expect them to "stabilize" their situation until AFTER 2009, and there are many who doubt they can last even that long.

They paid $33 Billion for Nextel and have now COMPLETELY WRITTEN THAT PURCHASE OFF. A $33 Billion "nevermind". These guys are the new poster child for mismanaging a company into ruin.

is that possible?
Well, no. It's not really germane. CDMA devices don't have subsidy locks. IIRC the world phones might be locked but you wouldn't unlock them to switch CDMA carriers.

Everyone with Verizon and ATT knows Sprint is going under, but no one from Sprint knows... I guess that's how Sprint losses its customers!!!
