Upgrading BES from 4.0.0.110 to current

Hi everyone -

I took over a BES server and found that it is running 4.0.0.110 :-o

I want to upgrade to the most current version - are there any oh craps or trouble that I should expect? I have the latest downloaded and ready to install. Also should it be a simple in place upgrade that will be smooth?

Backup data base and upgrade to sp7 for 4.0 first.

then wait a week and make sure all is ok and buy the upgrade to 4.1 for $1000.00 IIRC

Back up database and install 4.1.6 with new key.
Then apply MR2

We have all the updates through the support contract so I hope we dont need to purchase anything else.

So the 4.1.6 requires a new key?

4.1.6 will require a new key to install.
Call T support and they should issue you one and maybe help with the upgrade too.

So I contacted support - they said no new key is needed and no SP need to be installed prior....I am not saying that I believe them that is just what they said - I trust those that have done it before not someone reading a script....

update all done :) everything went smooth! Thanks for the tip about putting the SP on first.

Is there any tweaking that I need to make sure that I do after the upgrade or are the defaults pretty good? It is much much different from the 4.0.0.110 that we were running.

Upgrade a BB to 4.5 OS and enjoy HTML email.

Just look around at everything and dont be a stranger to BBF, there is a lot of good info here.
