My background picture on my blackberry gets removed everytime I sync.

I just downloaded the newest version of Blackberry Desktop 4.3. The only one magically disappeared.

Now when I sync my outlook/contacts etc connected to the computer it resets my background to the blue blackberry background.

Any ideas why? This is really annoying. I'd much rather look at something else.

I am guessing that your background is stored on the Micro SD. Try moving it to device memory and see if it sticks.
