Synchronize takes too long

I have a Curve and am using Desktop Manager to load my Outlook calendar
I only use my calendar to look up dates. I never enter data directly. When I synchronize it is set for Outlook to override the Curve's calendar.
The problem is there are over 8000 entries and it is taking forever to synch. I have it set to only download the future dates, not the ones that have passed.
Do I have the settings wrong for what I want to do?

8000?!!? That's like 3 entries a day, every day for 7 years? Something sounds seriously wrong. I have Approx. 25 entries a month and when it syncs it syncs about 200 entries, and that's set for 2 way sync.

I typically have 3 or 4 items per day, sometimes more.
