I tried to sms using the gprs on my Blackberry and its not working..
on my sms menu i have:

Code:

data coding - 7 bit
service center - 12063130004
network to send over - gprs
number of previous items - 7
cell broadcasting service - off

this is my current setting on my sms menu for my bb7230

- I dont have a data plan yet..do I need one to do this?

- I read somewhere that there is a loop hole in the TMO network that allows you to send sms on the gprs for free - and TMO cant keep track of it and that peaked my interest...

please advise and thanks in advance...

Without a BlackBerry data plan, you can not use gprs at all.

In any event, I believe T-Mobile fixed the SMS over GPRS loophole months ago. SMS is a charged service and goes out via GSM.

i just started using my 7100t and i did go to the SMS options and did select GRPS as my only means to send SMS messages. Now im not sure its working but i did try to send a sms while during a call and it didnt go thru. but when i hung up and tried to resend the sms that failed, this time it worked. does this mean im sending sms messages thru my unlimited BB data plan? i hope so! wooo
