Default E-Mail Account

I have several e-mail accounts on my BlackBerry Curve (8330). Is there a way that I can set a particular account as default so that when I compose a new message, it would be sent from that specific account?

Yep. Go to Options -> Advanced Options-> Default Services, and under Messaging, select the one that you want to be your main email.
