Hi ,
I got from my brother his old 8700c which has now OS 4.2.1.96 (Platform 2.3.0.79)

The device is old , nobody touched it for around half a year (if not more).

I would like to update the OS to the newest (with Hebrew support) and keep it unlocked (Using Israel carrier , not AT&T).

The about says I have BB 8700 although I know its the 8700c.

So , What do you recommend ?

Thank you.

The latest OS for the 8700 is:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8700-series-discussion/159578-latest-os-8700-4-5-0-134-4-5-0-99-multilanguage.html

And the 8700 = 8700c, all the same thing.

Thank you.
Post in the sticky said not to install the OS on 8703 or 8707 but ONLY on 8700
Will this remove my hebrew or my unlock form the device ?
Where can I find what updates new version have over my own?

Thank you :-)
Love the device

OS updates have nothing to do with lock or unlock.

yes, the link I gave you was the 8700, since you said above you have the 8700. Do you have the 8700 or the 8703 or the 8707? Look at Options > About if you are not sure.

The upgrade might remove your Hebrew, but it is possible to put it back.

Loading a new OS will not affect the unlock. Once unlocked, always unlocked.

The device looks like 8703c (AT&T silver color BB). But the about says its 8700. Also , I don't see the browser icon on the Home page , only when I click switch applications.

Could it be that my brother already installed on it 8700 OS instead 8703 one ?

The device is whatever the Options > About screen says.
Or the sticker underneath the battery.

I have no idea what your brother did, of course.

Sticker also says 8700 . cool.
Is there a way to remove the built in applications which needs BB dataplan since I'm not going to have it in the near future ? (Like the built in browser).
