I am trying to charge a phone I just received. All I see is a large dead battery icon when I plug it in. Any suggestions?

Let it charge for a couple of hours and then do a battery pull, and see how things go.

I am an idiot. I did not have the battery in the device. LOL

I do notice it did charge down fast however.

don't take this the wrong way, but i'm actually thrilled that a blackberry genius such as yourself can still make boneheaded errors like this one! haha

Since its charging, please tell me its a bad battery.:?

how quickly are we talking here? it sounds like you'd know when a battery is functioning properly and when it is not, so my vote is that it's a bad battery.....

When it is your own problem, I am less rational. If it were someone else, I say battery.

Maybe you can go to the Verizon store and see if they have another battery you could put in your device to test your theory.

The battery strip was pink with red xxxx.

I needed something in hand today.

Verizon and ATT did not have in stock.

I went to Spring and they wanted to charge me $60 and take my bad battery since I am not a Sprint customer.

Solution: Best Buy :-) They had the batteries lined up on the wall

Where they cheaper at Best Buy compared to Newegg/CB.com?
