By default, the emails should sort as latest first.

Look in your Messages > Menu > Options > General Options > Display Order > Name, Subject.

Does that help?

If you have a date break highlighted, you can Click the [Menu] button or Scroll Wheel and select Delete prior. If you're just looking to delete a "clump" of emails, highlight the first one, then hold down [Shift] and scroll to highlight the messages you want to delete, then hit the [Del] key or Click and select Delete.
