Does anyone have insight as to the timing on when verizon will launch the 7130? Should i wait or go ahead and get the verizon 7250? I have an old tmobile 6230 with terrible phone coverage in my area. Appreciate any advice.

Look in the Rumor Mill section (Possible Verizon 7130e FCC Approval).

The Verizon 7130 is supposed to be out by Thanksgiving 2005 according to a freind of mine who runs several Verizon stores. Latest would be early December.

I'd wait for the 7130. I have a T-Mobile 7230 which is a) awkward to use as a phone, and b) has lousy coverage. Verizon's service should be much better. Only downside is that Verizon is CMDA, not GSM so no coverage out of the country.

I would hardly use the 7230 as a comparison to the 7250 devices are night and from one to the next. The 7250 is an excellent device, ask yourself do you prefer the traditional BB QWERTY keypad or SureType?

The latest is a 11/14 release for B2B customers and Internet sales. Stores should have them within 7 days from that date.

Any word on whether T-Mobile will be picking up the 7130?

Why would T-Mobile want to use a CDMA device. They are on GSM. T-Mobile already has a 7100 and 7105T model. If you meant the 8700, well there are entire threads on that question.

Of course I meant that it would be a GSM version of the 7130. The 7105 is basically the 7100 with a couple cosmetic changes. It seems the 7130 is dramatically different, but I could be wrong.

According to Engadget, the 7130 looks more like an 8700 than a 7100. So I guess we have to wait for the T-Mobile 8700.

Do anyone have an update on the availability of the 7130 through Verizon? Last I heard, it was supposed to be released today through Online Sales & B2B...

Just came from a Verizon store outside of Boston. The latest scoop is the phone will be available B2B in December and in the stores in Jan. They have a picture and everything on their internal website.

O.k., so the 7130e is on the Verizon website, but i have spoken to two reps and they cannot order it. What is that all about? They tell me that there are no special options given to new customers, but I put a 7130e into a online order as a "new customer" and it went all of the way to checkout. However, I cannot order one either online, or through the stores as an existing customer?

Anyone know how I can get one of these since it appears that the VZW reps don't know what the heck is going on?????????

Good old FRUSTRATING Verizon.....

I'm in NH. Spoke with my Retail rep yesterday. He is expecting to have a 'demo' unit for me to look at Wednesday (he is still trying to confirm this) but says retail sales cannot be taken until Dec 1st.

If he does call and if I do get down to see it I'll let you know.

call the internet order customer service. Tell them the phone is not availabel as an option for an upgrade.

They should tell you to order one as a new user, then call in with the order number. They will try and capture the order and change it to an upgrade, if they miss it, then when you get the new phone, call the internet order customer service to activate. They will activate is as an upgrade and eliminate the new number.

I just ordered a 7130e from my Verizon Buisness Rep. Retail Price was $419.99, upgrade price was $149.99, my price with the new every two discount was $49.99. I will have it at 10am tomorrow morning and will try to answer any questions then. My calling plan with 450 anytime minutes, unlimited Verizon calling, unlimited nights and weekends, and unlimited data is $66.79 a month + taxes. I declined the tethering option at this time but may get it to try out.

And was the tethering option just an additional $15.00??

Thanks to everyone that answered. I am going to try and see if a friend of mine who is a business rep will handle the order for me.

I'll let you know, but am also interested to see jumanji's comments tomorrow!

Take care.

Yes exactly. I asked the rep if there was a way to get it to work as a modem without the tethering option. He said that there were measures in place to prevent this from happening but wouldn't elaborate.

I am currently with tmobile and using a 7105 and love it to death. But I might be forced to switch to verizon since I use way too many mins talking to verizon customers (my girlfriend). So how does the verizon version of the bb compare to my 7105? I might be interested in getting that since I am in love with my 7105

How is the earpiece and speakerphone volume on the 7130? I may jump ship from Cingular if the sound quality is good on the 7130.

Woohoo! I have my 7130 on the way! Here's my MUCH TOO TIME CONSUMING story.... O.k., so i had called VZW 3 times. I am available for the one every two discount and NO ONE can figure out how to order the 7130. I have a consumer account and what I did was asked the rep to please talk to a supervisor. It makes NO sense that a new customer can get the 7130 and I cannot.

Well, then I called and went from Telesales to Internet Orders and back to Joy in Customer Service who was the most helpful rep I have had in a while. She kept wanting to make it happen, but couldn't find the phone in her database for ordering. Joy went to her super and he/she said that it was internet-only and b2b. Man, what do I have to do for someone to take my money!

Well, Joy kept at it and she went in the back door to find the item number for the 7130. When a rep does that, they can then use the number in their present order screen, and can place the order. If you call customer service and ask for this to please be done with a lot of pleading, you should be able to get a 7130!

Good luck and Happy Turkey Day!

Well I've been playing with it for about an hour. The screen is very, very nice. Bright and sharp. Web browsing is very fast. The earpiece sound and volume seems to be good. The speakerphone volume is ok but the clarity doesn't seem that great. I've only made a few test calls with it so its hardly been through its paces. The phone itself looks cool. It is lighter and 'plastic-ier' than I expected. I'm a relative Blackberry newbie compared to some others on here but I'll try to answer any questions I can.

How is the screen out doors?

How is the signal strength?

Thanks so much,

I just got my 7130e from Fedex. The screen is great. I have yet to see it outside. I only had it about 45 mins. Once I get to play with it I will post more.

If someone can answer my question that would be great. I have a 7105 right now. How does the 7130 compare to the 7105? I want to switch to Vzw but none of the stores have a 7130 to play with. I assume it doesn't have a camera? Does it have v cast or evdo? Anyone who knows about the phone please get back to me so I know if I should order it from vzw online. Thanks!

I dont have a 7105 so I can not comment how they compare.

Stores will have them 12/1. No Camera, No vcast. It does have EVDO so its fast.

I have had mine and I think its a nice step forward as a phone. The keyboard however, especially If you are used to a full one will take some getting use to.

I also have EVDO and the web browsing still stinks, the BB browser is terrible. Side by side with a samsung i730, the i730 smoked the 7130. He was 2 to 3 pages ahead of me.

im not too big with vcast so that doesnt matter. im just curious how the 7130 compares to the 7105 (size, features, screen, etc.). im going to call vzw and see the deal with ordering the 7130. i might just wait till 12/1 to get it in the store. so if anyone has a 7130 and 7105please take some comparison pictures of the two. i wonder if RIM's website has specs in both so i can compare. thanks!

Depending on your location I would guess sometime early next week with tomorrow being a holiday. I just ordered one and was told I would have it on either Mon. or Tues.

If anyone was curious. I'm a b2c customer and was able to get the CS rep to place the order. I was just persistent about asking why I couldn't have one, but new customers could. She at first said that it hadn't been released yet, but then after researching more she said that they were in fact in stock. So long story short, she let me buy it.
