I'm new to the world of Blackberry and am shocked to see that I need to purchase an additional piece of software; paste DTMF to be able to send a contact as DTMF while in a call.

Quite simply I use a corporate calling card for my international calls and have saved the calling card number, including my account number and pin, but need to be able to then choose a number from within my contact list to send as DTMF and call.

Any work around here, every phone that I've had in the past 10 years has had this function

There is a workaround, but you have store the numbers separately for every international contact you have.

Choose any field of your contact (I chose "Other" field for all international numbers, just to be consistent) and key in your Calling Card number, pause or series of pauses, your pin number, pause and then the contact's number

The contact would like 800123xxxxpp1234pp01112345678

800123xxxx is the calling card number
1234 is your pin
12345678 is the number you want to call..some calling cards require 011 to be added the beginning.

I have saved my pin to the number, so I have saved my contacts without the pin

Yeah I considered that option, but it's a little inconvenient, surely the coding for paste DTMF isn't that complicated. Any clues?

If there's a third party app to do that (mentioned in your OP) then there's your solution.
