Welcome to the BBforums.

No, once it is sent, it is sent. There is no unsend function.

You do realize is most cases, email is practically instant. On a normal email with no attachment or graphics, you are talking about a less than 2kb email. By the time you think "oops, I shouldn't have sent that emal", someone could likely be opening it on the other end.

Not that I know of, I know AOL mail has or had an 'unsend' function but I've never heard of it on anything else.

You can "unsend" a message on MS Exchange. I believe both users must be in the same domain. The recipient won't be able to read the original message, but does get notification of the sender "unsending" the message. And as JSanders said, you better "unsend" it quickly or it's too late.

When all else fails, do like I did.
A dozen roses, new jewelry, get down on one knee, and beg like Keith Sweat.

Update: The Outlook menu item to "unsend" is "Recall"

Haha! I'd be interested to know exactly what you sent...

Interesting stuff... now that I'm looking in Lotus Domino, there is a recall option here as well. In fact there's even a "Recall the message even if it has been read." That oughta mess with some minds; I could'a sworn....

In GroupWise, if you retract a sent message, it retracts from the user's mailbox. The message still shows on the device.

Good point. I didn't mean to imply it would remove it from the BlackBerry, but rather just the enterprise mailbox. That would be some feat of communication trickery though.

Yes it would, and would probably confuse the BES admin. I could only imagine having users calling up saying "I received this message on my BlackBerry but it's not on my desktop."

Hasn't this changed with 4.1.6 for GW? I can retract a message from my GroupWise and it is removed from the BlackBerry.

If you are on a MS Exchange server, there is a Recall function. This only works with other exchanges mailboxes on the same system... and it is not sure that you will succeed. If the person has a Blackberry or is outside the system, unfortunately as of now there is no way to get it back other than you deleting it manually.

Gmail has an unsend function. But it's only valid within 5 seconds of sending the email.
