View Full Version : Is is OK to mess with Event Logs?

I read that by pressing alt LGLG you can access your event logs and delete them to clear memory and keep your BB running smoothly. Is this true and if so, how do you know what the logs stand for and which one's are OK to delete (clear)?

Yes it's true. You can delete them all. It will cause no harm to the device at all. Once you're in there press the menu key and select clear log.

I clear my event log often enough..

Just make sure you don't go into the options of the log and the log level.

Changing it from Warning to anything else would result in alot more logging then normal.

(Too bad we don't have the option to stop logging completely, I would bet 95% of BB users don't even know about the Alt+LGLG combo lol)

does the 'memory cleaning' option also clear out the event log ?

i just tried it also and noticed that it REDUCED my memory....

what i did was clean out my browser, then did a memory cleaning, then i noted i had 45MB available. then i cleared the log and the memory available went to 34.5MB....strange

That shouldn't be.. The memory cleaner is more so far security. When I had my memory cleaner a noticed a bearly noticable increase in the memory.

Are you sure you didn't have any apps running?

(Could be a bug in the OS your running.)

I use LGLG to clear the logs often. Great little trick! (y)

Can we learn any useful information from the logs - or is the log file not understandable?

As much as I know about the BB is can't understand the logs myself..

If anyone can shed any light on the logs I'd be interesting in knowing.
