How to condense SMS txt

Is there a way to condense all txt messages received by the same contact person? Right now I have my SMS txt seperated from the main message icon, but there is a seperate line for every txt i recieve from the same person. Is there a way to combine all these under that one person? Does this make sense? Thanks for the help.

Not with the BB as it is out-of-the-box. There are some 3rd party apps for threaded SMS but I don't know a thing about them. You might want to start by looking into them.

Of the third-party applications that do IM-styled SMS text messaging, none of them have the ability to mark the SMS as read. That is the only reason I haven't purchased one of them.
