Plug in USB cable, Vista keeps flashing the screen and the 7100t red light blinks ...

forever. One time I let it go for over a half hour to see if it would work but never did. I just bought this off eBay and it works good but I am unable to get it to do anything once I hook the USB cable up. When I plug the cable in the display on the Blackberry goes out and no button pressing bring it back. The red light just keeps flashing and flashing and my PC monitor keeps flashing on and off like I am hitting the Auto Config button on it. I unplug the cable and the monitor flashing stops and after about 10 seconds the BlackBerry comes back to the desktop.

I downloaded and installed BlackBerry Device Manager v4.1.0.10 and Desktop Manager v4.0.1.12.

Is this not compatible with Vista and do I need to install XP?

Have you tried another version of DM, such as 4.2 SP2/SP3?

I don't think DM 4.0 and 4.1 are Vista compatible.
