White Screen with Hourglass

Hello,

My dad just gave me his old BB 8800 which they could not fix at the AT&T store so they gave him a new one. The one he gave me has a white screen with an hourglass in the middle. The phone stays on for 30 seconds then the red light turns on and the screen goes black then turns back on and it has repeated this all day. Taking the battery out does not help fix this.

There is no media card in this phone, I have tried the "Alt-Num-Del" reset trick to no success. I've tried to "wipe" the data by connecting the phone to JL_Cmder with no success. I've even tried using the Desktop Manager to upgrade to the newest software but during the "Re-Initializing of the Device" stage, the device will not re-initialize so the process fails.

Anyway I can delete the old OS and install a new one. I used to sell phones and we would call this "Reflashing". Is this possible?

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

They are rather overkillish and may fix the problem, it sound like yours is attempting to boot, finding something it does not like and restarting.

I would download and install the OS to your PC, which can be found here.

Once installed, delete the vendor.xml file.

Be patient as it may take several attempts before it connects.
