Taking Blackberry on a cruise?

Hi all,

Going on a cruise next week. I won't be using my internet/email service while on the cruise b/c AT&T charges a per cent per minute charge while on the cruise on international waters. I may send a text message a few times a day to keep in touch with my girlfriend...I think 50cents a msg while on the cruise.

My question is...is there any way to turn off my data connection so whenever I turn my phone on my email isn't updating?

I'm just back from a cruise, aboard ship I was on the MCP maritime com network and its very very slow for data. It does work though.



Most of the time I had my mobile network set to 'off when roaming' and this prevented any data use.
