Hi, I'm new to the GSM world. My employer just activated a new Cingular 7290 for me. But I'm anxious to pick up a new 8700. Assuming I had an unlocked 8700, can i just swap-in my SIM card without contacting Cingular or my IT staff? Will voice and data both work via plug-n-play SIM?

I'd especially love a black Rogers 8700. Any unique issues in that scenario beyond getting it unlocked and paying a fortune for the device?

Thanks, in advance.

If it is an unlocked version you can use the SIM but you must change the pin if you are using the web based access or if using BES your admin has to add your new device PIN for email to work.

Why is this necessary?

When I connect to my BES with a new Blackberry, I am prompted whether or not to have the new device with the new pin be the "active" device. All my devices are T-Mobile 6710s. 8-) Sorry if I'm missing something here.

It's not.
