Why would you want to do that anyway?

well...
when you pay 9 euros to get 5mb (BIS Light)....

at least at home this would be handy
btw this is a "basic" option in some nokia and the like

I'm fairly certain you are wrong. Mobile phones (including BlackBerry) can provide Internet to a laptop over Bluetooth using the phones GPRS/EDGE/3G connection but not the other way around.

I was never able to do this with any of my Nokias. Not my E90, N95, or E71.

Blackberrys are different from any other phone as far as data is concerned. They rely on a connection to RIM's servers and there is no good way around this. Without a bona fide Blackberry data plan you get a phone and SMS. That's about it.

hi again,

regarding nokia bluetooth please search for
"share your internet connection to a Nokia over Bluetooth" you will find useful information. (y)

i will not use bb plan ever because of the price/Mb ratio and its mainly for personal use anyway so its too expensive.

right now i'm using the normal internet access provided by my mobile provider, in Portugal the standard on most providers is 8€ 100 Mb not good as probably all of you but nevertheless 100 Mb is enough for email and quick internet access when on the bus

i was expecting that someone could already find some way to use bluetooth for internet access on the bb if i remember correctly two years ago i was also searching for this and answer was the same....

don't you find this sharing of you internet/home access with bb is a good solution and a useful improvement that should already be supported by rim?

No, I don't think this is useful at all. BlackBerry devices were meant to be used with BlackBerry data plans. Whether you choose to use a plan or not is your choice, but the device will not function properly without a BlackBerry data plan. Any other methods of getting on the Internet on a BlackBerry are simply workarounds and are not recommended or supported.

If you really want to use your device properly, you should switch to Vodafone and subscribe to their BlackBerry tariff. It is only €13.33 for 100Mb, and your device will function as intended. Alternatively, Optimus has the same BlackBerry tariff for €12.50.
