I have a phone I inherited from my old job, a t-mobile. Can I sell it? The company doesn't use these old phones any more, but i'm worried that if i sell it they can track the PIN somehow.

Can they?

Wouldn't that be considered stealing from your company?

Does your company keep track of inventory? My guess would be yes. If that's the case, then I would say it's safe to assume they would know.

As NJ stated, what you're planning on doing is considered internal theft.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Go to jail. Do not collect $200.

The value of an 8700 is minimal - a quick look at eBay showed many for sale, but none were going for more than about $35... are you willing to risk your job and your freedom for $35? Not to mention the the haunting conscience thing. And, as others have pointed out, it's stealing whether you get caught or not.

These threads pop up on a somewhat regular basis.
The fact is, if you exercise control of property of another, you commit theft (this is the case is most if not all states).
As a previous post says, its not worth it for a few dollars.
I'd give it back to your previous employer.
