Haven't had much luck in the GPS Forum or web research.

Question: Anyone with an 8700g and Bluetooth 1.1 using a Puck?

If so, which one and is it still available and what navigation software do you use?

I am with Cincinnati Bell Wireless

Thanks for any help,

Ken

When I was using my 8700g I used the Freedom Keychain GPS 2000 device. It was excellent.

Thanks jeremyckitching,

When I read their specs it said Bluetooth Version 2.0 required. Is 2.0 backward compatible to 1.1. I only have 1.1. Did you have an older device than they currently sell and what version bluetooth was on your phone? I see adds for it that say any bluetooth device and then some that say 2.0. I would hate buy and have it not work and not be able to return it. Which Nav software did you use? I would like to use Telenav if supported with my phone and carrier.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8900)

I believe it is backwards compatible. I was using the 4.5.0 OS on my 8700g. I believe they are all the same model so it should work for you too. I just know it worked without a problem.

Thanks Again,

1. Backward compatibility is the only sensible answer to the conflicting reviews I have read. I don't think there is a carrier support issue is there? I have CBW.

2. I may try it, what software did you use? And, is that carrier specific?

3. I just added MyCaption for voice to text and with GPS may keep the 8700 for awhile. It is solid. I think it will be another year until the Bold and Iphone get to where I want them to be.

Confirmed with Freedom Input that the 2000 will work on the 8700g.

But, on Telenav's website it doesn't list the 8700g with Cincinnati Bell as an option.

Anyone have Telenav, 8700g, and CBW?

Or any GPS software with voice directions and the 8700g and CBW.
