Is there anyway to get this through RIM or do you have to wait for tmobile to get it

my understanding of this is that it is somewhat device specific. you'll have to wait until they release (if they do) 4.1 specifically for your device. if you go to blackberry's website, 4.1 is posted. but only as a download for the 7100i. 8-)

each provider will run the software and any updates RIM makes to it (which include carrier-specific fixes, patches, etc) through their own internal QA process. i'm sure there are people at RIM who could give you the beta 4.1 OS, but its very doubtful that you'd anyone in the position to give it to you (basing on the question posed here on the forums).

as for official release of the OS, you'll have to wait on the carrier to give it their seal of approval and update any sort of support documentation for their support staff. we're probably a few months off, at best.

he took too many 'no doze' pills while working on the project and now he's hibernating like a bear in the winter.

sk8, its doubtful that the 8700 comes with device software on the CD - typically just Desktop Manager.

yes i was thinking the same, only the drivers along with DM are on the CD. You would prob have to extract all of the os from the phone good luck with that

extracting the modules won't give him what he needs... hash codes. :)

...nor updated radio code for the 7100, which may or may not be needed.
