I have a Bold and use BES with company e-mail. I set up my personal holtmail e-mail also, which installed a new folder for the hotmail e-mail, but the hotmail also shows up in the 'messages' folder where my work e-mail shows up. I thought I would have two distinctly different folders. How do I fix this?

All Emails appear in the Messages folder.

If you have seperate folder icons set up for all of your e-mail addresses, you can hide the "Messages" icon on your home screen-from the home screen, move your crsor over the icon, then press the menu key and select "Hide" form the sub-menu.

I can understand that if I had a seperate folder icon for each of my addresses I could hide the 'messages' icon, but all of my blackberry enterprise server (BES) messages to to the 'message' folder, but my hotmail messages go not only to the new folder named with my hotmail address, but also they go the the 'messages' folder. If I could get my BES messages directed also to another folder, then I think I could do what you suggest. I'm at a loss. This seems like something that many people would have run into, so you'd think there would be an easy solution.

There is not an easy solution. I wish there were.

You have 2 options:

a) Get your BES Admin to make a regedit to the server. This will create a "BES Only" messages folder. However, it will be applied to ALL users on the BES server, so your admin might not want to do this
How to create a separate icon on the BlackBerry smartphone for BlackBerry Enterprise Server messages only (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/viewContent.do?externalId=KB15003)

b) For one user only, the only option (without 3rd party tools) is to create the search that hides non-enterprise messages as per
View Document (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/documentLink.do?externalID=KB14683)
It's not a solution, more a workaround.

As far as I know, this is as good as it gets in BES 4.1.x

I know it's not giving you separate folders but this works for me:

Isn't this also still an option?

Yes. Sorry, I rarely remember to recommend 3rd party options.

Yes. I'm sure I recommended that the post directly above yours though ;-)

Empower does not work very well with 4.5 OS. It will not show sent emails and here is a response from Empower when I wrote to them about having to double click to see messages:

Thank you for writing to us. On RIM OS version v4.5.x.x or onwards this is a limitation that when you click on BES MailBox, RIM first open the general Message folder. That is why you need to press twice to open Enterprise messages

You did, but I was expanding on it by pointing out that you can filter other email accounts in addition to the work one.
