I have been receiving spam email forwarded to my verizon wireless blackberry storm from my regular verizon account. This email also downloads to my laptop but none of the spam makes it into my inbox on my laptop. How can I stop the spam from hitting my blackberry?

Never give your Verizon e-mail. In fact, do not use your Verizon e-mail. Go to your BIS settings, and open up the filter for this acct, not to forward e-mail to your device. Use another e-mail acct

Are you talking about your vzw blackberry.net account, or do you have verizon as your isp and you've set up your web mail in BIS?

As aksonitzky says, there is no spam filter on the carrier's blackberry email.

For ISP emails and others, it depends on how the junk mail filtration works. If it's not removed at the server, then BIS is going to grab it and send it to your blackberry.

Does that help?

If there is email from particlar addresses that you do not want forwarded to the blackberry, you can set filters in BIS. That won't help for typical spam, of course.

I have a bunch of filters set up in BIS to stop spam from getting to my BlackBerry. It doesn't stop all of it, but it helps a lot. Look at your spam and see what words are common in the subject lines and you can add filters for those words. I have filters for words like Viagra, sex, pills, college degree, etc.

I sort of treat the vzw account as sacred, especially after Blackberry Web Client was phased out.

I'm having the same thing happen with my MobileMe email. Only a few seem to get through to my BlackBerry, but it NEVER used to happen at all. "Overnight Prints" seems to get past the spam filters and gets forwarded to my BB. On my desktop it's relegated to the spam folder like always. This is also happening with my Hotmail account. Junk leaks through every now and then. It's so minor I don't sweat it and just delete 'em, but it's odd that it's happing sporadically. I would expect either a complete breakdown of spam filtering or none at all. Could these spamming swine have figured out a way slip past? Ugh, I hope not!

I dont use that one except to occaisionally send something to myself. But spam overall has nearly doubled in the past 2 to 3 months so more is getting past the ISP's filters.
