I bought a phone on e-bay to replace a stolen one. It checked out clean with the carrier, so they will allow me to use it. I would like to wipe everything on the unit before registering the ESN. Then I plan on downloading the o/s from the Telus site, which is 4.22 because they are in the stone age and refuse to endorse 4.5 to their customer base. They say they are still testing it. So whats the proper way to wipe an 8830 ?

After the wipe, this forum provides you with excellent instructions on updating your BlackBerry to a better OS. So if you're interested in upgrading BlackBerry forums and their many contributors can help and support you.

Good luck with the wipe.

Just go to Options>Security Options>General Settings>click on the Blackberry menu key (with all the dots beside the trackball) and choose Wipe Handheld. Everything will be reset except for any OS upgrades done to the phone. Then go to the Blackberry website and see if there are any updates availabe for your model so you get it done before you start packing the device with your stuff.

Yes, 4.5.0.138 is out and all you have to do is delete the vendor.xml :D

4.5 has caused a lot of headaches. I wish I could tell my customers to not download it but I would probably get canned...

4.5 is working wonderfully on our Curves.
