Basic Questions about new blackberry

Work have given my a blackberry 8310 smartphone (EDGE).

It's heavily restricted, e.g. no camera, and no facebook, or downloads from external sites. I'm really struggling with a few things.

Mainly:

Is it possible to link the BB to the computer, so I can drag and drop things into it, an off it. E.g. if I downloaded music, could I transfer it on there, or ringtones, photos, etc...

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, a Blackberry can be connected to a computer and information transferred to it, but in light of the fact that this is a work device and they are obviously concerned with security, my recommendation is that you talk to the appropriate personnel in the IT department and find out what is permissible.
