View Full Version : Heading back into Verizon?

I got my first bb (curve 8330) about two weeks ago and immediately became obsessed with it. unfortunately, the other day, i must have gotten a little water in it because the trackball and keyboard stopped responding. luckily when i took it into verizon they gave me a new one with no problem but the browser wasn't responding and the store was closing in 15 min so they sent me on my way. now the browser won't go to the home page and when i click 'home' it goes to the facebook app download page. theres also no 'go to' option for typing in different websites. on top of that, the trackball is sometimes slow to respond (i have to press a couple times to get it to respond) and i feel like the keys are extremely loud when i type. is it possible they gave me a used curve? or are all in store replacements brand new?

i'm definitely going back into verizon today to have them help me fix the browser. but would it be too picky of me if i asked for some help on the trackball/keyboard noise and maybe even requested another replacement? i hate to be like that but it's such an expensive phone that i want to be 100% happy with it for the next two years before my next upgrade.

i guess i'm just looking for some reassurance or some similar stories so i don't feel like a spoiled little girl demanding the latest and the greatest.

Sounds like a refurbished unit.

Let us know and if the store is not friendly, you can call customer care.

Have their techs take a look at it but I would speak with the store manager. If a new device fails within 30 days, they should be giving you a NEW device, not refurbished one.

When they replaced your 2 week old BB, did they do it as a warranty or as an insurance claim? Was the moisture indicator red? Also, not a bad idea to add the insurance, if you haven't already done so.

thanks guys!
i went back in and he did a few things and got my browser working just fine and showed me a few things to keep everything running smoothly.
of course the trackball was responding perfectly the whole time he was using it so all i could get him to do was take it out and clean it (and even that took some begging on my part).

the guy didn't even check the moisture indicator and i never told him that it got wet (my friends convinced me they wouldn't replace it if i told them it was my fault) he just gave me a 'new' one. the guy that helped knew nothing about blackberries and admitted it to the girl he was helping ahead of me who had a storm. i mean, maybe it's just me, but i feel like their tech service people should be knowledgeable about every phone they have in their store.

i do have insurance on it and i plan on being annoying if there's even the tiniest thing wrong with it.

i guess i'll just keep an eye on things for the next couple weeks and see if the trackball fixes itself.

Glad to hear it worked out! Yes, keep an eye on it, especially as your 30th day approaches. Beyond the 30 day return, it falls under the manufacturer's warranty which means you will most likely get a refurb, even with insurance.

Tips:
Get a good carry case for it and a screen protector. If not a leather carry case then look into those rubberized cases. The Curves tend to be more prone to scratches, dust and moisture damage. Don't leave it in the bathroom while you shower (moisture damage). Lastly, don't just drop in in your purse or in your back pocket without a case (dust under screen and on camera lens).
